Anti-Pollution Education

At the Asanteman Anti-Pollution Coalition (AAPC), we believe that clean cities are not an accident. They are the direct result of deliberate education, strict enforcement, and unwavering community partnership. Based in Konongo and working across Asanteman, we are a citizen-led movement committed to protecting our environment. We work hand-in-hand with the Asante Akyem Central Municipal Assembly, the EPA, Ghana Police, Fire Service, Churches, Mosques, Youth Groups, and Clubs to safeguard our communities from the devastating effects of pollution and build a healthier Asanteman for today and future generations.

Our foundational vision is a clean, healthy, and flood-free Asanteman where every citizen respects the environment and lives sustainably. To realize this, our mission is driven by active mobilization and partnership with key institutions to enact and enforce sanitation by-laws. We tirelessly run behavior-change campaigns against littering, open burning, and plastic waste in markets, schools, and lorry parks. By monitoring pollution hotspots and advocating for vital infrastructure like waste bins and recycling points, we ensure that environmental responsibility becomes a shared, community-wide standard.

Our entire operation is anchored on three core pillars: Educate, Enforce, and Partner. Through school and radio campaigns in Twi and English, we emphasize that there are absolutely no excuses for littering. By patrolling with Assembly Task Forces and mobilizing religious bodies for monthly clean-ups, we ensure no one cleans alone. This work directly supports Ghana’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. We prevent disease (SDG 3), protect our rivers and drains from plastic blockages (SDG 6), keep our streets safe and sustainable (SDG 11), and actively fight climate change by preventing deforestation and open burning (SDGs 13 & 15).

The fight for a clean environment requires your voice and your action. We invite you to join the movement this month: commit to disposing of waste properly, join our community clean-ups every last Saturday, and report any illegal dumping directly to our team. Your financial support is also crucial—donations fund vital PPE for volunteers, market waste bins, and logistics for large-scale clean-ups.
